![]() It's a big concrete hotel - not really our architectural masterpiece in town. Personally, I find it a bit bland - built about 25 years ago and still with a very 1980's feel to it. Febs2.Westin Crown Center is a pretty typical Westin. Out of curiosity, how does the Westin Crown Center rate? I've been to KC once before, but stayed in the Quarterage (which obviously doesn't compare to the likes of Westin, Hilton etc.) as there was literally nothing else available (according to the TA).Īlso, completely off-topic, but can you recommend any good golf shops near Crown Centre, or the Plaza? Usually about half that, although I don't know if they have the concept of a "junior suite".) (And I've never seen it cost anywhere near $219. But right now, it's pretty dead.įor the airport itself, the Marriott is really the only decent property up there. Perhaps the Drum Room will be overflowing with Penguins fans on game nights. By 2008, the hotel will be in the middle of all the action: a new arena and dozens of restaurants. We spent a night there about 6 months ago and saw about 2 other guests. So now, it has a brand-new but half-empty feel to it. ![]() There is 1 quality FS property: the newly-renovated President downtown - even that has an odd aura right now as major development projects are underway all around it. Pickin's are slim for Hilton in Kansas City. $219 a night.did the desk clerk don a ski mask and flash a gun when she checked you in? That's brutal. I'm sorry, kunphuzn, I wish we would have had a chance to warn you off of this place before your stay. (The Homewood is supposedly nice, but I have never stayed there.) I actually offered to accept a Hampton, Homewood, or Embassy room but they refused to move us - I think they realize they are the bottom of the barrel among the 4 Hiltons by the airport, and that includes a crappy Hampton Inn and a somewhat tired, older Embassy. Our stay was totally effed up - first they assigned us a room that already had a bunch of high-school girls in it ( !), then they assigned us a smoking room, finally they assigned us a room with two double beds. Sleeping in your car is free, a better value, cleaner, and involves no bad attitudes from incompetent desk clerks.Įverybody I know who has stayed there has had a bad experience. I have spent exactly 1 night in the MCI Airport Hilton - a Priceline bid of $32, which is grossly too much money for this complete dump of a property.
